3 Home To-Do's Before The Big Freeze

It's about to get really cold here in central Illinois. Are you ready?

Here are a few items you may want to check off of your to-do list before the white stuff starts falling:

Divert Water - Make sure that any water or ice/snow melt runs away from your home and walkways. Water in the house and ice on the sidewalk are not fun to navigate in the winter.

Flush and Cover Exterior Faucets - If you have hoses still connected to your spigots, be sure to remove them. Any water still remaining will freeze, and you don't want that to cause a leak/break in your spigot. If possible, cover your spigots with insulated styrofoam(Found for a few dollars at Lowes, Menards, etc.).

Keep Your Fuel Fresh - Add fuel stabilizer to any remaining fuel that you may have stored in cans, lawnmowers, etc. Doing this will give you a much better likelihood of starting your spring how you ended your fall.....with running machines.

While this list is not all inclusive, all of the items listed are simple to complete for even the most helpless novice :) If you're feeling spry, try Google for other winterizing tasks that you can probably complete on your own without professional guidance.
